Jim Furyk Misses Out On Barclay’s League Because Thanks To A Faulty Alarm Clock

Jim Will have To Miss Out In The Barclay's League Because Of A Faulty Alarm Clock

Jim Furyk will have the unfortunate displeasure of missing out of the Barclay’s League thanks to his faulty alarm clock. Furyk was disqualified from this week’s Barclay’s tournament which is the first U.S. PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs after he could not make it in time for his pro-am tee time.

Furyk has become the ill-fated victim of a rule in golf tournaments that eliminates players from the real tournament if they fail to line up their pro-am namely because of the funds big sponsors spend during the pro-am warm up games.

In truth, as much as he would have liked to, Furyk wasn’t trying to miss out on the pro-am games. Heck why would he do that when there was $10 million bonus on the line. The phone which Furyk also uses as his alarm clock failed to go off after the battery ran down. Apparently he did not charge his phone long enough, the phone battery died and the alarm never went off.  This is a legitimate excuse if you ask me but, in golf the rules are the rules.

Unfortunately, Furyk will have to miss out on a paycheck which could potentially be huge one, on the flip side because Furyk was 3rd in the FedEx Cup rankings his season is not going to end on a sad note. Furyk will be allowed to play in next week’s playoff stop, the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
