WikiLeaks Servers Thrown Out of The United States
WikiLeaks has revealed that its severs are no longer being hosted by Amazon. The whistle-blowing website confirmed that the termination of the server hosting contract was motivated by its recent leak of US diplomatic cables.
The website is now being hosted by the Swedish company, Bahnhof AB which previously hosted the website. Shortly after moving the servers, WikiLeaks tweeted that, “WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted. Free speech the land of the free–fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe”.
Amazon might be feeling very embarrassing now because the kind of relationship between the company and the whistle-blowing site has been questioned. A congressional staff had reportedly question the kind of relationship that Amazon has with WikiLeaks. The company has however failed to comment on the kind of relationship that exists between the two organizations.
WikiLeaks however did not mince words with its next tweet about the attitude of Amazon. The website Twittered that, “If Amazon are so uncomfortable with the first amendment, they should get out of the business of selling books”.
Independent Senator, Joe Lieberman from Connecticut was however full of praise for the action of Amazon. He commended Amazon for not allowing WikiLeaks to “distribute its illegally seized material[s]” using their resources.
